The following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and answers to them were produced as part of a collaboration between German U15, the Agency for Innovation in Cybersecurity (Cyberagentur) and the project management organisation VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH (acting as the National Contact Point for the European Defence Fund (EDF) and as the National Contact Point for Security Research). From the perspective of German U15, the starting point was a series of pressing questions raised by university management and the academic research community. The project management organisations Cyberagentur and VDI Technologiezentrum, which specialise in the fields of security and defence, have formulated specific answers to these questions. The FAQs provide structured guidance for universities engaged in the field of security-related research. They do not represent the universities’ position on this area of research.
